Paul Nimsuwan is an attorney and a former U.S. Marine who was born in Thailand and grew up in Las Vegas, NV. Paul came to the United States at age 14, as his parents sought to escape the economic turmoil of Southeast Asia. He graduated from Durango High School and received his B.A. in Criminal Justice from University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Paul enlisted in the Marine Corps while still in college, and served until 2007 when he was injured in the line of duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He then attended law school, earning his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Massachusetts in 2012 and then a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Banking and Financial Law from Boston University, M.A. in 2013.
Following graduation, Paul was awarded the Presidential Management Fellowship with the Department of Defense at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., where he worked on policy, budget, and legislative affairs at the Office of Secretary of Defense.
Later, Paul left government service to work as an attorney and an entrepreneur, launching a start-up consumer electronics company while using his legal skills and bi-cultural background to provide services to the community. As a pro bono legal volunteer, Paul helped low-income individuals with immigration, housing, and family law matters.
Paul’s experiences as an immigrant, a Marine, a husband and an entrepreneur have led him to run for Assembly as a Democratic candidate for Nevada’s Assembly seat of District 35 in the House Nevada Legislator. If elected, he’ll work to improve education, enhance public safety, promote economic jobs, and make our government work for our family again.
Paul is an animal lover and very focused on personal health and wellness. He lives in Las Vegas with his wife, and they are expecting their first child soon.
